Prospective Labour city councillor for Bedwardine, Sue Smith.

I have lived in Vernon Park Road in the heart of Bedwardine for over 30 years. I, my neighbours and so many Bedwardine residents are fed up with the political games and infighting amongst the current councillors. It’s time for a councillor who cares about residents rather than personal ambition. Nationally and now locally, Bedwardine residents are being let down.

I want to change that. If elected, I would put Bedwardine residents at the heart of all I do as a councillor.

The loss of the St John’s Co-op is a big blow to a shopping area that was already feeling dilapidated. I would work to assist small traders to make our shopping district vibrant. We need cleaner streets and footpaths and better provision for walking and cycling. Our young people need activities to keep them busy. I would work with local community groups to help provide activities for them. In short, I would put Bedwardine residents first!
