Lynn Denham, Rachael Baylis and Joy Squires address a packed Campaign Launch

Spirits high as three amazing women launched our General Election campaign!

A large and enthusiastic crowd filled the Magdalene Room in St George’s Church in Barbourne on a wet Saturday afternoon. A volunteer had risen at 06:00 to ensure that plenty of freshly-baked cake was available to welcome everyone. Delicious as the cake was, it wasn’t the best bit of the afternoon.

Joy Squires, Rachel Bayliss and finally parliamentary candidate Lynn Denham made impassioned speeches to the packed audience. Joy, former parliamentary candidate who came within 2500 votes of toppling in the 2017 election, praised the efforts of campaigners who fought as hard as they could. Now, with the Tories having the nerve to make out that they’ll be putting money into schools and hospitals saying that ‘Britain deserves better’ (as though it’s nothing to do with them!), that Tory majority is looking very slim indeed.

Joy spoke highly of the other two speakers, reflecting her genuine respect for Lynn and praising her astuteness and ability to be ahead of the game politically; and Rachel who she met at on a 2017 hosting ‘speed dating’ event at Worcester Sixth Form College and described as an ‘amazing young woman’.

Rachel lived up to this introduction with an energetic, flowing and eloquent speech.¬†More to follow…

In the meantime you can get involved.

Come along to the Unite Offices (our campaign HQ) to pick up posters and help out.
