Warndon is set to benefit from a major £20 million investment over the next decade — with local people at the heart of deciding how it is spent.

The funding comes through the Government’s Pride in Place programme, which is designed to support long-term improvements in communities. Warndon West has been selected as one of just 169 areas across the country to receive this support.

Residents will shape the future of Warndon

What makes this programme different is that decisions won’t be made behind closed doors. Instead, people who live and work in Warndon will have a direct say in how the funding is used.

This could include improving local facilities and public spaces, supporting community projects, and making neighbourhoods safer and more welcoming.

A new Neighbourhood Board will be created to help guide investment, with a strong focus on local representation.

Labour councillors for Warndon have welcomed the investment and are encouraging residents to take part.

Cllr Ed Kimberley said:

“This is a huge opportunity for Warndon. £20 million over 10 years gives us the chance to make real, lasting improvements — but the most important thing is that local people will decide how that money is spent.

I’d strongly encourage residents to get involved and make their voices heard.”

Long-term investment in the community

The £20 million funding will be delivered over 10 years, supporting both new projects and the ongoing running of services and facilities.

This long-term approach gives Warndon the opportunity not just for quick fixes, but for lasting change shaped by the community.

Cllr Jill Desayrah said:

“We already have a strong sense of community in Warndon, and this funding can help build on that — supporting local projects, bringing people together, and making sure no one is left behind.

I’m particularly keen to see residents from all backgrounds taking part in shaping what happens next.”

Turning local priorities into action

Residents will be able to take part in surveys, attend events, and even apply to join the Neighbourhood Board. No prior experience is needed — just a commitment to improving the local area.

More engagement events are expected in the coming months as the programme develops.

Cllr Naz Hussain said:

“Residents often tell us what matters most to them — cleaner streets, safer neighbourhoods, and better local facilities. This programme gives us the chance to turn those priorities into action.

The key now is making sure as many people as possible get involved.”

Have your say

Residents are encouraged to take part in consultations and help shape how the funding is used over the coming years.
